Neuropsychologists ask the question, "but why?"

A Clinical Psychologist, which most people are familiar with, primarily focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health issues involving emotions and behaviours (for example, anxiety and depression) through talk therapy or behavioural modification. They also assess and diagnose learning disabilities and make recommendations based on their observations.

In comparison, a Clinical Neuropsychologist, such as Dr. Robyn Stephens, is a qualified Clinical Psychologist. The additional years of professional training, clinical supervision, formal academics, and post-doctorate experience required to elevate their clinical understanding of brain and behaviour relationships make them an expert in their field. Dr. Robyn Stephens has specialized knowledge because of her years of training and practice, and she does not just look at how the symptoms present but continues to ask, "but why?"

For example: Why does he have trouble writing things down? Why can't my child focus? What are those twitches my child does? Are they just being avoidant, or is there another reason for their social behaviour? My child is brilliant, yet they aren't doing well at school, but why? Most importantly, what can we do to help individuals become more confident in their everyday lives?
